"I knew i loved music my family was based around it my father always listening to hip hop back in his day in the streets of N.Y., My mother had me around a lot of soulful R&B, Pop and Gospel music I looked up to artist such as Micheal and Janet Jackson, The Fugees, Madonna, The Police, Blackstreet, Seal, and Donnie Mcclurkin. As well as my Aunt Deb singing in clubs and being a great dancer also vocal coach and my uncle (Jerry Anderson) was part of a group called "Mystic Merlin" a group from N.Y popular in the U.K signed with capitol. My father was always trying to get me to play an instrument, I wasn't interested in instruments I was more interested in the sound of music vocally. One day my dad surprised me with my first key board, I started messing with it, listening to cd's and playing the songs by ear while listening. At that moment I knew I was meant to do music but artistry wise I wasn't so pressed about it!"-J.Latay. Writing her first song in 2002 walking home from school she says "I was listening to the cars flying down the street, the trees brushing there leaves in the wind, my feet on the pavement, the birds chirping, the beat just came to me the words started flowing from my mouth I knew that day from then on I was meant to sing and to write! They say that people find music but really music finds you"-J.latay.
