THURSDAY MORNING - Woman robbed, pistol whipped on the way to work in Portsmouth -

PORTSMOUTH--A woman was robbed and pistol whipped while she was on the way to work Thursday morning.
Around 8:10 a.m,, Portsmouth police were dispatched to the 4000 block of Portsmouth Boulevard in reference to shots fired.  Citizens who heard the gunfire had called 911.

Officers arriving on scene found a 47 year-old woman, who had been robbed and pistol whipped by two suspects, while she was attempting to go to work.  She was taken to a near-by hospital and treated for injuries sustained during the attack.

The victim, an employee of Empire Recycling, parked her vehicle in a parking lot, which is shared by several businesses that included the Majestical City Gentlemen’s Club.  After getting out of her vehicle, the victim saw two male suspects approach her from behind the club.

One  man was armed with a handgun.  The suspects attempted to take the victims purse, and other personal items.  The victim struggled with one suspect to hold onto her purse.  The other suspect, during the struggle, struck the victim in the head with the handgun.

The gun was fired during the assault causing at least one round to travel into the air.  Detectives are still conducting searches to locate where the bullet stopped.  The victim was not hit by the gunfire.

The suspects are described as black males.  One suspect is in his late teens and the other in his mid to late 20’s.  The attack was caught on surveillance cameras that show a suspect in his mid to late 20’s walking in front of the Gentlemen’s Club and walking behind it, just before he approaches the victim.
